Homosexual Part 2 (My Responce)

Homosexuality Part 2 Wow, at this point I’ve had three responses to my ‘dilemma’. I used the homosexual group as an example of an audience that needs to be reached… and that has prompted some reaction. Anonymous reactions, but hey! Since I can’t address their assertions individually (I have no address to which to send a response) I’ll take a moment here to address them. The first and most basic question is the question of whether or not homosexuality is a ‘sin.’ But what is sin? Sin is a violation of God’s law, in the simplest of terms. In the broadest sense, the Bible says that for a man to know what is the right thing to do, and fail to do it, for him it is sin. That casts a very wide net. But if we just stick to the idea that sin is sin if it violates God’s Law, as it is written in the Bible, well, we can still show that this thing we call homosexuality is a sin. Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” Leviticus 20:13 “And if a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” And for those of you who think the Old Testament is of no consequence, here it is in the New Testament. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? (that means you don’t go to heaven) Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God,” As Jack Sparrow would say, “there is what a man can’t do, and there is what a man can do.” According to the Bible, those are things a man can’t do, but what of the things that a man can do? Did you know that we are commanded to love one another? Let me see, how did that go again? I think it is in Romans 12:9 “Don’t just pretend that you love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong(evil). Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Now I have a question for all of you. If you were in a position to see that the path I am on will soon end in certain death, what would you do? If you love me, really love me, you would not want to see me die, you would warn me and hope I’d listen and get off the path, change direction or something to avoid the impending doom. Right? Right! So, is it difficult for any to believe then, that the –most- loving thing I can do is to inform the homosexual that his chosen path leads to death? It is not out of hate, nor ignorance nor fear, that I say this. I have to tell him that, I am compelled to tell him that out of LOVE! Anything less would be empty words of blessing while we stand idly by and wait to watch them die. That would be hateful and unloving… saying nothing is hate. Informing them, that is love.

Hi - I was the middle response.

I think that if God was willing to give us all free will you should honor that right in others. The saying is "they'll know we're Christians by our love."

What is your goal? Is it to share Christ's love and hope that people you meet and know will be saved? If so, why do you target only one specific group of people? What is it that makes you feel more strongly about people living an alternative lifestyle than other people?

Also, I couldn't figure out your email address or I would have emailed you.

Years ago, you would have had a hard time finding a major motion picture that did not include one or more main characters who were smoking. Smoking became popular and the tobacco companies profited. These days smoking has been banned from all public buildings and has become something of a social taboo.

I think that homosexuality is the next tobacco. Like it was for tobacco, a lot of film makers are promoting the lifestyle and like tobacco, there is a downside to it where one’s health is concerned. Namely the risk of AIDS but it is not limited to that. So in the course of time, I predict that we will see a rise and a fall in the social acceptability of homosexuality. That prediction is consistent with the historic patter and isn’t too hard to make.

The reason that I choose this topic, well there is more than one reason, the reason you would probably understand best is because this is a relevant topic for people right now. Pointing this sin out over, lying, cheating and stealing, isn’t meant to make it appear to be somehow the worst sin in the book nor even the only sin. The Word tells us that anyone who is guilty of a single transgression is guilty, and for all intents and purposes is just as guilty as one who has broken every law. So God does not have a pro-rated system where guilt or sin is concerned.

As for my purposes, and I hope you understand this, I’m a broadcaster. That is, in order for people to understand Gods gift and love for them, they need to exercise their free will and accept him. To do that, they first need to hear the Word. So the metaphor is like a farmer. He uses one machine to broadcast the seed, which grows over time, and then he uses another machine to harvest the crop. I am the machine that plants seed. Others will be sent to harvest.

Now, about my e-mail. Try PastorTorch@cableone.net

I’m fairly certain that I spelled it without a space between Pastor and Torch.

I agree that the act is a sin. But I am having a hard time deciding which side to take on voting. Should we let the Government control this issue or let the States? Or should Christians just stay out of the voting process?

At first I was all for the Government to take control of this but lately I thinking they are taking power in almost everything and leting them have more might be the worse crime.

Yea and this might not be the best way to address the issue:

If salt has lost it's savour, how will you season it?

If the Christians start looking like, sounding like and acting like the rest of the world....?

I say "VOTE" but do so as carfully as possible, sometimes they set things up so that a yes vote means no. The public vote impacts the rule of Law, and the Law should never violate pure morals. If we stand up for what is righteous, and maintain our laws accordingly, we can help this nation stay on the right track.

We also have to educate, to speak up and be heard. Too many of our rank and file have bought into the lie that says we must be tolerent. Do we tolerate thieves, murderers and rapests? No! So that idea is bumpkiss. Do not surrender your responcibility to decern right from wrong at the alter of 'tolerence'.

But, ultimately, who is saved by being condemned? This isn't the example that Jesus gave to us. Do you believe you've ever sinned? If so, did you decide your sins were less offensive to God than someone who is gay? What biblical proof did you use in determining the heierarchy of your sin vs. someone else's? Ultimately I may try to lead a Godly life, but I know I sin, fall short and need grace. If someone doesn't believe in God and doesn't believe Jesus died for their sins why should they believe that being gay is against God's will? I think that helping people believe in God has to come before any condemnation for their sins.

I love that you are passionate for wanting people to worship God and know the truth!

Let me make one thing very clear. There is no heierarchy for sin. The word clearly tells us that anyone guilty of breaking any of God's laws is just as guilty as someone who has broken them all.

As for trying to live a Godly life.. see 'Endurance 04' about the pitfall of self. I think that post has already addressed the point.

Now... your point about a belife in God is well and good. It is my belife that many discount the existance of God because it follows that while we are living in God's world, we will be held to God's rules, just like living in our parents house brings under our parents rules.

Some claim that there is no God out of deffiance, or rebelion, but it is a common human reaction. What we need to bear in mind is that Laws are good. By keeping the law we are protecting ourselves from harm.

If we were all able to keep the law, all the time, there would be no crime, and no victems. We would be living in peace. But people have to know what the Law is befor they can live by it.

What difference does it make to me if they accept the Law because they believe in God or because they agree that the Law is good? Either way the world becomes a better place one person at a time. Now it will make a difference to them. But that is something for them to work out with God.

This was in my mailbox as part of my Bible verse of the day and I thought of you.

Romans 14:1-13
"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. [2] One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. [3] The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. [4] Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
[5] One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. [6] He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. [7] For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. [8] If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
[9] For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. [10] You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. [11] It is written:

" 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord,
'every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.' "

[12] So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
[13] Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way."

I pray that you consider that you risk losing someone by judging them.
